Animal Caretaker
The Animal Caretaker is responsible for the well-being of the animals at Arnell Memorial Humane Society while they are in our care. This position ensures that the animals are fed, exercised, trained, and kept in a safe and healthy environment.
The Caretaker will sanitize kennels daily. This is a physical position and can be messy. It requires walking, bending, kneeling, and wrangling excited animals. The Caretaker will assist with medications and vaccinations with proper training. The Caretaker should be able to handle large dogs (up to 100 pounds) and lift 25-40 pounds.
Caretakers should be able to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team. Time management skills are essential to accomplish the multiple tasks required with compassion and efficiency. Organizational skills and attention to detail are a plus, along with a willingness to go the extra mile.
Our animals are depending on you. The rewards of helping our homeless animals recover and find new homes is an emotional journey that makes this position rewarding and unique. Caring and empathy are required for consideration. On-the-job training is provided to the right candidates.
This is a part-time position with daytime shifts from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Weekend availability is required bi-weekly, with a total of 10 to 20 hours per week.
